Earl Rudolph Doehrmann was born June 1, 1931, on the family farm in rural Iowa County, the son of Rudolph and Loretta (Glandorf) Doehrmann. Following graduation from Williamsburg High School in 1949, Earl served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 7, 1956, he married Dorothy Spenler at ST. Paul’s Chapel in Iowa City. For over thirty years Earl worked with his brother-in-law at Spenler Tire. He later worked at the University of Iowa and in his retirement enjoyed working at Dave Long Products. Earl was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. As a child, his family enjoyed playing cards; something Earl continued all of his adult life. To know Earl was to know a kind, gentle, generous, and always willing to help kind of man. You knew his love for the game of golf, love for gardening, but foremost in his life was his family and his faith! His family includes his wife of fifty years, Dorothy; children, Sherry Westhoff and her husband, Paul of Kenosha, WI, Chris Doehrmann and his wife, Julie of New Brighton, MN; and Nancy Doehrmann of Rubio, IA; grandchildren, Paul Andrew Westhoff, Olivia Westhoff, Luke Westhoff, Jessica Doehrmann, Cassie Doehrmann, Adam Doehrmann, and Alaina Doehrmann.
