Obituary of Lucille Swails

Lucille R. Swails, 87 formerly of Iowa City died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at the Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Lucille’s memory to First Presbyterian Church or Lantern Park Care Center. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Lucille was born June 26, 1919, in Muscatine County, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Rust) Wince. She attended school in Cotter, Iowa graduating from Cotter High School. On December 9, 1939, she married Kenneth E. Swails in Des Moines. She and her family moved to Iowa City in 1957, where she worked for many years at J.C. Penny’s. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church having served as a Deacon. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose in Iowa City. Lucille enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and going to the State Fair. She has shared many quilts with family and friends that she has made over the years. Her family includes her children, James Swails (Valerie) of Arvada, CO, Keith Swails (Stefanie) of Iowa City, Judy Swails of North Liberty, Bonita Swails of Iowa City, Patricia “Pat” Grady (Tim) of Iowa City, and Robbin Swails of Coralville; 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth; brother, Robert Wince and his sister, Harriet Rodgers.
