Obituary of Richard F. Dolezal
Richard F. Dick Dolezal, 74 formerly of Iowa City died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Dicks memory to Iowa City Hospice or Systems Unlimited. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Richard F. Dolezal was born November 13, 1932, in Iowa City, the son of Richard F. and Stella M. (Pokorney) Dolezal. He graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1951. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and eight years in the reserves. On June 11, 1956, he married Beverly Treptow in Iowa City. He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring as Superintendent of Postal Operations of the Iowa City Office after 33 years of service. Dick was one of the founders in the development of Systems Unlimited, serving as the first treasurer of the board. He also has served on the board of ARC. His family includes his wife, Beverly; children, Linda Hayes and her husband, Chris; Debra Tappan, and Steven Dolezal and his wife, Donna all of Iowa City, eight grandchildren, Chelsea DellaBetta and her husband, Steve, Rachel Hayes, Andrew Tappan, James Tappan, Michael Tappan, Ben Dolezal, Danielle Dolezal, and Nick Dolezal; and one sister, Beverly Dolezal Johns of Indio, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gregory Dolezal, and two sisters, Doris Peterson and Janet Macfarlane; and one brother, Gary Mott.
