Obituary of Ruby M. Kral Martin

Ruby Marie Kral Martin, 92 of Iowa City died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Center following a lengthy illness. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Pediatric Chaplaincy Fund through the University of Iowa Foundation. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Ruby was born December 23, 1914, in Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Shoquist) Temple. Her parents died when she was four years old, she then was adopted by her grandparents, Carl and Helen (Tilberg) Carlson who lived in Glendale. California. Following graduation from Glendale High School in 1934, she returned to the Lone Tree area. On July 10, 1935, she married Lawrence J. Kral. Lawrence died January 31, 1963. She later married the Reverend Ernest F. Martin on January 10, 1965. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1982. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Iowa City, former member of the Order of Eastern Star, for years she volunteered at the Driver License Bureau, and with Visiting Nurses Association. Over the years she has enjoyed traveling with her family, and going through this life guided by her strong faith. Her family includes her son, Larry Kral and his wife, Joyce of Iowa City; daughter, Pamela Freund and her husband, Tony of Coralville; five grandchildren, Kent Krueger, Kurt Krueger, Kandis Becher, Kail Denison and Tyler Freund; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, adopted parents, both husbands, daughter, Beverly Krueger, two brothers, and one sister.
