Obituary of Earl E. Anderson
Earl E. Anderson, 93 formerly of 531 1st. Avenue, Iowa City died Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford, following a reception that will be held at the church immediately after the services. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service and after 9am Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Earl was born February 8, 1914, in Malcolm, Iowa the son of Elmer and Ellen (Robey) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Volk on February 12, 1939 in Cosgrove, Iowa. The couple resided in Iowa City since their marriage where Earl owned and operated sanitation and hauling service for many years. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge and former member of the Moose Lodge. His family includes five children, Connie Broulik of Mechanicsville, IA, Earl R. Anderson (Karen) of Platteville, WI, Virginia ODell of North Liberty, Judy Anderson of Coralville, and Barbara Burr of Coralville; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 3 sisters-in-law, and 3 brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary; son, William; daughter, Lorna, granddaughter, Dawn ODell; son-in-law, Richard Broulik; daughter-in-law, Doris Anderson; and 5 brothers.
