Obituary of Barbara Lee Graves

Barbara Lee Graves, 77 of 21 Solar Street, Iowa City, formerly of Davenport died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness. Family services were held through the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Barb’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Barbara was born April 13, 1930, in Lamoni, Iowa the daughter of John and Molly Mann. She married George W. Graves May 1, 1960 in Papillion, NE. The couple moved to Davenport in 1960 where they resided until moving to Iowa City in 2001. In Davenport, Barb worked for the Ben Dix Corporation for a number of years. She was very proud of her work and the company what they contributed to our world. Barb was a person who collected Blue Carnival Glass, she enjoyed going to the ocean, watching the birds outside, but most of all, the greatest joy in her life came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved being “mom and grandma” Her family includes her husband, George; son, Lynn Rosenbaum and his wife, Sharon of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Patricia Graves and Rick Griffin of Iowa City, and Susan Graves of Tipton; many grandchildren including Cory Kohler; and many great-grandchildren including Jordan Kohler; and her two dearest friends in the world, Marilyn Heiser of Davenport and Delores Sellich of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Barb’s family and her services.
