Obituary of Shirley Marie Colony

Shirley M. Colony, age 68 of rural Tiffin died at her home Monday, October 29, 2007. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7pm Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Shirley Marie Colony was born March 21, 1939, in Iowa City the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Brant) Colony. She graduated with the Class of 1957 from Iowa City City High School. For over twenty-two years she worked in Health Registry at the University of Iowa. As a lifelong resident of the Tiffin area she had been a member of the GraceUnited Methodist Church, and the Garnet Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Her family includes her children, Lamont “Monte” Ellery of Tiffin; and Dawn D. Ellery-Garison and her husband, James Garison of Hutto, TX; grandchildren, Logan and Haleigh; brother, Carl Colony of Iowa City; and her loving companions, Pepe and Frankie. She was preceded in death by her parents and dear friend, Joe Klima. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Shirley’s family.
