Obituary of Leonard A. Rogers

Leonard A. Rogers, 69 of 3701 2nd. Street, Coralville died Friday, February 15, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Iowa City following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Leonard's memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Leonard Allen Rogers was born June 27, 1938, in Iowa City the son of Harley "Red" and Mona (Haughenberry) Rogers. During the Korean Conflict Leonard served in the United States Army. For many years he worked for the Iowa City Community School District. He was a member of the American Legion, for years bowled in area leagues, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. His family includes his two children, son, Brook Rogers and his wife, Karen, and daughter, Guylia Small and her husband, Doug all of Iowa City; 8 grandchildren, Katrina, Trevor, Shannon, Sheyenne, Shanna, Sheyeigh, Shane, and Shyla; brothers, Harold Rogers and his wife, Marilyn and Jerrie Rogers, and his wife, Dorothy all of Iowa City; and his trusted companion, Hoolio.
