Obituary of Ralph Deadman

Ralph Deadman 91, formerly of 2332 Liberty Dr. Coralville, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 due to complications of Alzheimer’s at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am Wednesday, April 9,2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. For those attending the service parking will be available on Jefferson, and Dubuque Streets. Visitation will be on Tuesday form 5:30 to 8:30pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Ralph was born November 4, 1916 in Chicago, IL the son of Harold A. and Bertha Deadman. After high school he moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa where he attended William Penn College. At William Penn he met Mary Emma White, the two were married on September 13, 1938 in Davenport. Ralph worked in data processing for many different companies he started with Wrigley Chewing Gum in Chicago then moved to Farmers Hybrid Seed Corn in Hampton, Iowa, and last was the University of Iowa form 1960 until retirement in 1979. He was on Hampton city council for a term in the 50’s, a member of First United Methodist Church, and a long time member of the Iowa City Optimist Club. Ralph was an avid Hawkeye Fan and loved spending time on the golf course His family includes son Robert (Diana) Deadman of New York City, Charles of Pompano Beach, FL, Thomas “Tad” Deadman of Cedar Rapids; daughter Mary “Molly” Deadman of Fredericksburg, VA; seven grandchildren Rachel, Emily, Tammy, Robert, Jade, Levi and Hannah; five great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters, daughter-in-law Susan Deadman and a brother.
