Obituary of Roy R. Walton

Roy Russell Walton 69, of 4532 Oak Crest Road SE, in Iowa City, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 due to a sudden illness at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 2:30pm Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30pm until service. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Gus’ in Coralville following the service. Walton was born September 9, 1938, in Independence, Iowa the son of William and Katherine (Kuffman) Walton. On July 20, 1963 he married Mary Petsche in Epworth, Iowa. He was an entrepreneur in Iowa City. Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He loved motorcycles and camping. His family includes his wife, Mary; son, Michael Walton and his wife, Christy of Coralville; daughters Laura Dooley of Solon, Linda Strabala and husband Glenn of Coralville; three grandchildren, Jessica Dooley, Logan and Kalei Strabala; brother, Leo Walton of Cedar Falls and sister, Mary A. Walton of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Roy’s family and his services.
