Obituary of Beatrice Ilene Peterson
Beatrice Irene Peterson, 91, died Thursday, April 10, at Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, of complications due to Alzheimers disease. Bea Peterson was born on July 27, 1916 in Roland, Iowa to Elling and Laura Rodsater Rosheim. She attended Roland public schools, graduating from high school in 1933. She attended Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. In 1940 she married Christian Paul Peterson in Roland, Iowa, and they settled permanently in Iowa City. A devoted homemaker and a particularly accomplished seamstress, Bea also was active in Girl Scouts and served as a troop leader for some years. She worked for a time at American College Testing. An avid golfer and member of the Elks Country Club beginning in 1945, she was for many years the ladies golf champion there and held womens course records at several area golf courses. She and her husband enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada for most of their marriage and, for nearly twenty years, they spent their winters in Diamondhead, Mississippi. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia and her husband Laird Addis of Iowa City, and Sue and her husband Tom Riedel of Laramie, Wyoming; three granddaughters, Kristin Addis and her husband Jamie Lloyd of East Dean, England, Karin Addis and her partner Kristen Johns of Valdosta, Georgia, and Susan Udell of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three great-grandchildren, Hazen Lloyd Addis of East Dean, England, and Noel and Kayne Udell of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and a brother, Ed Rosheim and his wife Bette of Tama, Iowa. Her parents, her husband, and two brothers preceded her in death. There will be no funeral service. Arrangements are being made by Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Services and interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
