Obituary of Christine K. Smith

Christine K. Smith, 46 of Iowa City died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Muscatine County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 6pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Shawver Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, IA. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Christine’s name. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Christine Kay Smith was born January 19, 1962, in Iowa City, the daughter of Cecil and Leila May (Holderness) Cox. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College where she received her Associates of Arts Degree. After graduating from Kirkwood, she was hired at Rockwell Collins as an Electronics Technician for eleven years. She later became a union representative in her field. Christine was a hard worker who enjoyed life. She loved reading, fishing, camping, and her cats, but more then anything, she loved her family. She was a community mom, a wonderful mother and beautiful in every way. Her family includes three daughters, Melinda “Jo” Smith, Mallory “Mal” Smith and Amy “Ames” Maxey all of Iowa City; mother, Leila May Cox of Cedar Bluff, IA; two brothers, Fred Cox of Iowa City and Gary Cox (Penny) of Cedar Bluff; and a sister, Terry Clark (Mark) of Lisbon. Christine was preceded in death by her father, Cecil. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Christine’s family and her services.
