Obituary of Phyllis L. Phelps

Phyllis L. Phelps, 70 of 3042 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Iowa City Nursing and Rehab Center in Iowa City. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Lynch officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Phyllis was born May 10, 1938, in Kensett, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Braun. She has been a longtime resident of this area, where she loved caring for her children and her home. She was one who believed in helping others, generous to charities both locally and outside this area. Her family includes her children, Sandra Heisdorffer (Berny) of Iowa City, Jeff Phelps of Columbus, OH, Nora Phelps of Iowa City, Kathy Garringer of Dumont, CO, Danny Phelps of Crawfordsville, IA, and Charlie Phelps of Golden, CO;9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Phyllis’s family and her services.
