Obituary of Nona Helene Dolder

Nona Helene Dolder, 68 was born in Renwick, Iowa on May 12, 1940, the 6th of 7 children born to Dick S. and Rosamond (Gray) Hefty and was carried away in the loving arms of Jesus on May 19, 2008 after a 7-1/2 year courageous battle with pain. She was in her own home surrounded by her family, friends, and Hospice personnel at her passing. A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at St. Mary’s Auditorium in Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Thursday prior to the services at the Auditorium. A family burial will occur at a later date in Oxford Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Nona’s memory to the Hands of Christ Worship or Iowa Hospice. Nona attended several schools in Humboldt County and returned to graduate as salutatorian with her original class at Boone Valley High School. She was confirmed in the E.U.B. Church. On July 13, 1958, she was married to Harry Dolder at the E.U.B. Church in Renwick and the couple lived in Seneca, Illinois, Grinnell, Iowa and Iowa City while Harry worked for the Rock Island Railroad, finally settling in Oxford in 1967. After her second child was in school, Nona worked as a grocery clerk in Oxford and in 1972 became store manager at the couple’s TV store. She was a lover of nearly all kinds of music and loved to sing in the choir. Nona was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a charter member of Hands of Christ Worship Center. Nona is survived by her devoted husband, Harry, two sons, Bruce (Diane) and Brent (Caroline) both of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Jonathan and his fiancé Carleen Wanek, Benjamin, Tyler, Kelsey, and Jeremy all of Iowa city; two sisters, Donna Lueders of Omaha and Patricia (Norman) Sandhorst of Kansas City; two brothers, Robert (Jean) of Florence, and Philip (Pam) of Wendell, ID; many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dick Art and Henry. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Nona’s family and her services.
