Obituary of Scott W. Hemsted

Scott W. Hemsted, 45 of Lone Tree died at his home Thursday, June 12, 2008. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 1 to 5pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. From 4 to 5pm there will be an opportunity to share “Scott” stories for all those who are in attendance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to provide for much loving care and support for his two dogs, Groucho & Seven. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Scott Wayne Hemsted was born April 23, 1963, in Iowa City, the son of Larry A. and Gloria A. (Djerf) Hemsted. He was a 1981 graduate of Iowa City City High School. For the past five years he has worked in Central Sterilization, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Prior to this, he worked at Hungry Hobo for over twenty years. For some time he was involved in the Reserve Program with the Johnson County Sheriff Department. Those who knew Scott also knew his natural abilities and talents as an artist. His family includes his parents, Gloria and Fred Heston of Cape Coral, FL; brother, Shaun Hemsted and his wife, Brenda of Ankeny, IA; niece, Jordan, nephews, Nicholas and Ryan; and of course his beloved Groucho and Seven! He was preceded in death by his father, Larry, and grandparents. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for his family and his services.
