Obituary of Richard W. Stoner
Richard W. Stoner Sr., 81 of rural Solon, formerly of North Liberty died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in "Dick's" memory to the charity of the donor's choice. Richard Wesley Stoner was born August 19, 1926, in Johnson County, Iowa the son of Reuben and Mabel (Williamson) Stoner. He was united in marriage to Pauline Stella Hill on June 5, 1948, at the First Congregational Church in Iowa City. The couple just celebrated sixty years of marriage together. Dick has been a farmer all of his life, first as a young child growing up, and for many years on their home place in North Liberty. Dick was a man that enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, hunting, fishing, farming and of course his family! His family includes his wife, Pauline, their two sons and their wives, Richard Jr. and Patti Stoner of Solon, and Michael and Gatana Stoner of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Sonya Moses and her husband, Korie, Brannan Stoner and his wife, Kristi, Matthew Stoner, and Mitchell Stoner and his wife, Maggie; five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Alexis, Brogan, Carissa, and Dylan; two step-grandchildren, Chelsea Jones and Adrianna Mullin; and one-step-great-granddaughter, Hanna Mullin; brother-in-law and his wife, Paul and Carol Hill of Fresno, CA. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Darlene Humpal, and brother, Earl Stoner. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Dick's family and his services.
