Obituary of Lelia A. Schrag

Lelia “Lee” Schrag, 77, of Iowa City died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Mercy Hospital of Iowa City due to a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A memorial donation has been set up in Lelia’s name. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Lelia “Lee” Schrag was born March 17, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Alanzo C. and Joyce G. (Owens) Miller. After graduating from high school she attended the Highland Infirmary Nursing School in Birmingham, Alabama. On December 31, 1975 she was married to William G Schrag in the same year they moved to Iowa City where she worked for the Iowa City School District. Lee liked gardening and shared compassion, along with her daughter, Leslie, for dogs. She was fond of her German Shepherd granddogs and both Lee and Leslie cared for and fostered other German Shepherd dogs from the Mississippi Valley German Shepard Dog Rescue. Her family includes her daughter, Leslie Little of Hills; brother, Charlie (Kathy) Miller of Scottsdale, Arizona; sister, Mildred Werley of Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Tom Little and Husband, William G. Schrag. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Lee’s family and her services.
