Obituary of Jerome B. Aldeman

Jerome “Jerry” B. Aldeman, 60 of Iowa City died Wednesday, October 01, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Jerry Aldeman Pancreatic Research Fund directed by Dr. Ray Hohl, through the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center @ the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA 52242. Online condolences may be sent for Jerry’s family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Jerry was born January 28, 1948, in Iowa City the son of Bernard and E. Thelma (Jensen) Aldeman. Following graduation from City High School in 1966, he attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in education. He later returned to the University and received a degree in computer science. He worked as an independent computer systems consultant. Jerry loved to travel; he traveled extensively both within the United States, but also internationally. Prior to moving back to this area about eight years ago, he had lived in a number of cities on the west coast. His family includes his mother, Thelma of Iowa City; sister, Mary Franck and her husband, Lee of Foley, AL; brothers, Jim Aldeman and his wife, Barb of Schaumborg, IL, Ed Aldeman and his wife, Denise of Iowa City, and Steve Aldeman of Iowa City; nephews, Bill Henss and his wife, Ariel, Matt Aldeman and his wife, Amy, Chad Aldeman and his wife, Gabby, Mark Aldeman, Michael Aldeman, and David Aldeman; and one great-nephew, Jacob James Aldeman. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; October 5, 2005. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Jerry’s family and his services.
