Obituary of Lois M. Britton

Lois M. Britton, 80 of 1406 Spruce Street, Iowa City, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 1, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Lois Maurine Lockhart was born November 20, 1928, in Dunlap, Tennessee, the daughter of Lavander and Edith (Hatfield) Lockhart. She moved to the Iowa City area over forty years ago where she has raised her family, enjoyed and spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family includes her children, Clara Swails (Dennis) of Solon, Rose Shalla of Iowa City, Patsy Britton of Newton, Herbie Britton (Matt Brown) of Coralville, and Mike Britton of Iowa City; grandchildren, Tracy Swails of Iowa City, Shawn Swails of Oxford, Angela Reuter (Chris) of Coralville,Kristen Altuntop (Tarik) of Woodside, NY, and Kelsi Shalla of Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren, Robby Swails, Andrew Swails, Benjamin Swails, Isabel McDonald, and Hudson Reuter; seven sisters and one brother all residing in Tennessee. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and one sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Lois’s family and her services.
