Obituary of Irma Bachman

Irma Bachman, 84 formerly of Coralville died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. Family graveside services will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be at 10am Thursday until services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Irma’s memory to either Bishop Drumm Care Center @ 5837 Winwood Drive, Johnston, IA 50131 or Mercy Hospice House @ 5820 Winwood Drive, Johnston, IA 50131. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Irma was born January 11, 1925, in Harvey, Iowa the daughter of Leo and Laura (Woods) Test. She was united in marriage to Delno Whitlatch on December 5, 1943. She later married William Bachman on October 25, 1975. She had lived in Coralville for a number of years before moving to Johnston to be closer to her son and his family in 2002. Her family includes two sons and their wives, Larry and Roxalee Whitlatch of Oak Harbor, WA; and Dwight and Beverly Whitlatch of Ankeny, IA; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Maurice, Roy, Milton, and Ivan Test; and one sister, Bertta Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Floyd. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Irma’s family and her services.
