Obituary of Abigail E. Horner

Abigail Horner, 85, of Iowa City passed away Monday, January 26, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Abigail Ellen Nielson, eldest daughter of Roy Nielson and Ellen Burkhalter Nielson was born on June 3, 1923 in Springville, Iowa. Abby graduated as valedictorian from Lone Tree High School and attended the University of Iowa. She was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Abigail worked for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 20 years. She sang with the Lyle Drollinger Band and loved to travel. She is survived by her son, Steven Horner of Iowa City; daughter Karen Horner; and granddaughter Julia Horner both of Berkeley, CA; sisters Ava Wiese of Coralville, and Barbara Digges of Pasadena, TX. No services are planned. Cremation services were provided through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City.
