Obituary of Marie Anna Masbruch

Marie Anna Masbruch, 92, formerly of Iowa City died Sunday, February 01, 2009 at Parkview Manor in Wellman, IA. Private family services will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences can be sent through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Marie was born August 4, 1916 in Dubuque, Iowa to George W. and Anna Gronau. She graduated from Holy Cross High School. On November 30, 1935 she was married to Melvin D. Masbruch in Bloomington, WI. Together they moved to Iowa City where Marie worked for the University of Iowa in the registrar's office. She was a past member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and American Business Women's Association. Her family includes sons Dale L. Masbruch of Australia, Melvin D. (Sylvia) Masbruch of Atlanta, GA, Duane H. (Jean) Masbruch of Fair Oaks, CA, Gary D. Masbruch of Cedar Rapids; daughters Marlene (Richard) Stoutner of Keota, IA, Sharlene (Anthony) Eicher of Rio Rancho NM; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin; brother Bud Gronau and half-sister Theresa Jeter.
