Obituary of Merle A. Heick

Merle Heick ,86, formerly of Iowa City and Tipton, Iowa, went home to the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Gardens Care Center, Sapulpa, Oklahoma following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Internment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to either St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of the University of Iowa Foundation. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Merle was born in Perry, Iowa on February 4, 1923, to Walter Callahan and Irma (Baldwin) Callahan. She married Harold Heick December 18, 1965 in Tipton, Iowa. She spent the majority of her working career as an educator at the University of Iowa in the College of Nursing. Merle had moved to Greentree Assisted Living in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to be near her son and his wife. Merle's family includes her children: Richard Woodford (Joanne) of Kellyville, OK, and Jim Woodford ( Lynn) of Waldorf, MD, and three step-children, Janet Burch (Bob Mitchell) of Des Moines, IA. , and twins Barbara L. Scott, Milledgeville, GA. , and Bill ( Becky) Heick of Williamsburg, Iowa. In addition she is survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grand children, 7 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harold.
