Obituary of Rosella Skriver

Rosella “Rose” Skriver, 67 of Iowa City died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Hills Atrium Village, Hills, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Hope United Methodist Church in Iowa City, burial will take place at the West Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice or Rose Skriver Memorial Fund. Online condolences can be sent for Rose’s family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com Rosella (Hora) Skriver was born October 1, 1941, in Iowa City, the daughter of George W. and Helen M. (Phillips) Hora. She attended Johnson County schools until high school when she attended City High School. On January 7, 1967, she married Robert H. Skriver in Iowa City, Iowa. She had worked as a cook for the University of Iowa, at the Quad and Memorial Union. Prior to that she and her husband, Bob owned and operated the Downtowner Restaurant in West Liberty; and before this she worked as a manager for Lacina Skelly in West Branch. Her family includes daughters, Heidi H. Skriver, Mary C. Powers (Bryan); grandchildren, Grace, Ysette, Jacob, Anthony, Junior, and Alex all of Iowa city; 3 sisters, Marilyn Lenz (Ivan) of Iowa City, Connie Railsback (Ed) of Solon, and Beverly Rickels (John) of Lost Nation; nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob after 32 years of marriage; sister, Donna; and brothers, Donald, Robert, and George. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Rose’s family and her services.
