Obituary of Kenneth R. Plum

Kenneth R. “Kenny” Plum, 90 formerly of Iowa City passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Westridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Kenny’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, Neuropathy Association or Westridge Care Center. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Kenneth Roscoe Plum was born April 28, 1919, in Johnson County, Iowa to Roscoe and Frances (Buline) Plum. He married Margaret Kelsey on September 6, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. Kenny was a lifelong farmer, farming south of Iowa City, retiring in 1984. They remained on the farm until moving to Iowa City in 1992. Margaret died November 1, 2000. Kenny moved to Cedar Rapids in 2005. His family includes his children, Larry and Florence Plum of Meridian, Idaho, Linda and Gary Flansburg of Iowa City, Leanna and Tom Swanson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Kirk and Charlene Lattner, Kevin Lattner, Don and Cherie Plum, Ray and Mindy Plum, Ken and Lori Plum, Larry and Ginger Plum, Mike and Ginger Plum, Michelle and Todd Gale; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Kenny was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; his parents, sister, Evelyn Rummells and an infant brother.
