Obituary of Robert D. Knoll

Robert D. “Bob” Knoll, 67 of Prescott, AZ died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Committal services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., September 21, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Robert Dean Knoll was born August 13, 1942, at Ft. Morgan, CO, the son of Vearl and Effie (Avey) Knoll. He enlisted with the United States Army during high school, beginning a career in federal government that would span years and a number of wars until his retirement in 2004. He was stationed at military bases and installations across the country and overseas including a tour in Vietnam; five tours in Germany; Fort Bragg, NC; Fort Campbell, KY; Fort Gordon, GA; Fort Riley, KS; Rock Island Arsenal, IL; Fort Devens, MA; ARRTC, Fort McCoy, WI; Hickam AFB, HI; Johnston Island; RSD, Richmond, VA; and retiring to PO Box 9037, Prescott, AZ 86313. His family includes his wife, Peggy; children, Robert Dean Knoll Jr. of Hope Mills, NC, Bobby Dean Knoll of Bettendorf, IA, and Tammy Lee Knoll of Erie, IL; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson, his mother, Effie Knoll and brother, James Knoll of Brighton, CO.
