Obituary of Donna Lea Kinyon

Donna L. Kinyon, 79 of Iowa City, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Ogden, Iowa following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Donna’s memory to Iowa Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Donna Lea McDonald was born May 11, 1930, in Olin, Iowa the daughter of George and Ida Mae (Weaver) McDonald. She was united in marriage to Kenneth John Kinyon on October 25, 1947, in Olin. The couple and their family moved to Iowa City in 1957. Here she worked for the University of Iowa at the Dental College in housekeeping for many years. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and MOC (Military Order of the Cooties). Her family includes her children, Kena Lea Yeggy of Ogden; Keith W. Kinyon of Iowa City; Debra E. Knuth (William) of Pleasant Valley, IA; and Kathy Kinyon of Boone; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Ida Mae Sluewing of Garden City, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, Michael and Kent Kinyon; 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and a son-in-law, Ken Norem.
