Mary was a life-long resident of Johnson County, Iowa and more recently of Casper, Wyoming, where she has lived at the home of her daughter since 2004 because of failing health. She was born April 11, 1919, on the family farm in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Wyjack) Zimmerman. She grew up and attended schools in this area, graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Iowa City. Mary was united in marriage to James M. Brack on May 11, 1938, and together they farmed near Iowa City until his passing in March of 2004, following 66 years of marriage. She loved farm life, caring for the livestock, tending the garden, quilting, cooking and baking for family and friends. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and caregiver as well as for her devout faith. Her family includes her children, James (Patsy) Brack of Iowa City and Carol (Vic) Renville of Casper, WY; grandchildren, Gary (Julie) Brack, Joanna (Jerry) Robinson all of Iowa City, Patrick (Raun) Brack of Chicago, Sherri (Mark) Breece of Phoenix, Marcia (Travis) Wilkens of New Salem, ND, Larry (Anna) Richmond of California, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, sisters, Mabel, Luella, Ann, Loretta, Marie, and Elvena; and brothers, Clarence, Johnny, and an infant brother.
