Obituary of Robert J. Aubrecht
Robert J. Bob Aubrecht, 82 of Tiffin died Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. Burial with military honors will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Roberts memory to Iowa City Hospice or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Robert James Aubrecht was born October 3, 1927, in Lone Tree, Iowa the son of Lloyd C. and Pearl (Reidy) Aubrecht. His family moved to the Tiffin area, where he attended schools graduating from Tiffin High School in 1945. During the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Army. On January 22, 1950, he married E. LaVerne Slade in Tiffin. The couple and their family made their home in Coralville for many years before he and LaVerne moved to Tiffin in 1996. For many years Robert was employed with Kings Concrete Products. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, the V.F.W Post No. 3949, former member of the Johnson County 4-H, Johnson County Mounted Patrol, and the North Liberty Saddle Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, raising bees, hunting and fishing, but most dear to him was his family and the many friends over the years he has known. His family includes his wife of nearly 60 years, LaVerne; daughters, Margaret Rios (Benny) of North Liberty, and Marcia Dolezal of Cedar Rapids; sons, Terry Aubrecht of Tiffin, Tom Aubrecht (Michelle) of Tiffin, and Tim Aubrecht (Cindy Elmer) of Rockford, IL; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Connie Stoddard of Junction City, KS. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Joy Barnes; son, James Robert Aubrecht; sister, Doris Shaffer and a brother, Vernon Aubrecht.
