Obituary of Beatrice C. Fetters

Beatrice “Bea” Christina (Lewis Woodruff) Fetters, 67, of Iowa City, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville.Entombment will take place following the services at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Monday, December 7, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Beatrice Fetters memorial fund. Beatrice Christina Lewis was born September 8, 1942, in Iowa City the daughter of Leo and Christina (Fowler) Lewis. She lived in many places throughout her life but always called Iowa City home, that’s where she met William Fetters and the two were married in June of 1987. Beatrice was a dedicated employee at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where she worked in central sterilizing for almost 20 years, retiring in 2003. Bea’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville for over 20 years. She also enjoyed sewing and working on crafts, but most of all she enjoyed time with her grandchildren; the joys of her life! Beatrice’s family includes her husband, William Fetters; daughters, Teresa ( Jeffrey) Swanson of Omaha, NE, Christina (Joseph) Barnes of Des Moines; son, Scott (Raina) Woodruff of Florence, CO; step-children, Dianna (Sheldon) Evans, Rhonda Fetters, Crystal (Chad) Schulte and Darren (Theresa) Fetters all of North Liberty, brothers; Francis (Emily) Lewis and Joseph (Barb) Lewis; and her sister, Carol Gaal. She is also survived by her 14 grand children and 4 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Edith Ellerton and Ida Jane Lewis. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City is caring for Bea’s family and her services.
