Obituary of Betty Louise Johnston

Betty Louise Johnston; Each heart is whispering, "Home at last, home at last!" Betty Louise was joyfully welcomed into the world on May 15, 1941 by Cora and Carl Jessen of Clinton, Iowa. She married Donald Petersen and together they had 4 children; Virginia Petersen (Charles), Carlena Minor (James), Tom Petersen (Tammy) and Barbara Chermak (John). They divorced and she married Dale Johnston on June 28, 1985. They traveled the world together and had many exciting and unique adventures. Betty loved nature, had a remarkable zest for life and a continuing love of learning new things. She was, among many other things, an accomplished gardener and an award winning photographer. She dearly loved her grandchildren, Joe Brockman, Kristina (Minor) Dvorak, Amber (Minor) Meek, James Daniel Minor, Ciera Minor, Alex Minor, Kristina Minor, Chelsie Minor, Elizabeth Minor, Courtney Petersen, Dillan Chermak, Kaitlin Chermak and great-grandchildren, Sierra Meek, Jordan Meek and Jayden Minor. Betty was gently called home to be with our Lord on January 31, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant sister, brother and parents. She will always be missed by those who had the good fortune to know her. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
