Obituary of Dorothy Dalton Etherington

Dorothy Etherington 91 of Iowa City died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2010, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Dorothy Dalton Etherington was born January 14, 1919, in Fremont County, IA the daughter of William and Bernice (Evernyham) Dalton. She graduated from Glenwood High School, Glenwood, Iowa. On October 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Earl “Alfred” Etherington in Rockport, MO. Dorothy and Alfred moved to Iowa City in 1957. Here she had home day care from 1959 until 1990. Her family includes her daughter, Betty (Bob) Boyd of Lake Sherwood, MO; her son, Lee Etherington of Coralville; grandchildren, Patti and Shane Moen and their children, Chloe and Carter; Amanda Boyd, Stacey Boyd and her children, Samantha, Chase, and Madison; Chris and Tammy Boyd and their children, Ashley, Megan, and Bridget; Brandi Stevenson and Kari Thien; brothers, Herschel Dalton of Georgia and Harold (Yvonne) Dalton of Hamburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Clarence, Ralph, and Morris; and her sister, Katherine.
