Obituary of Leonard K. Grosvenor

Leonard K. Grosvenor, 72 of West Branch, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10am Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Friday, July 16, 2010, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. A memorial fund has been established in Leonard’s name. Leonard Keith Grosvenor was born February 11, 1938, in rural Davis County, Iowa the son of Gerald L. and Mildred (Osing) Grosvenor. Following graduation from Bloomfield High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Ivalee M. Williams, but they later divorced. Leonard was never afraid of hard work, he has worked numerous jobs over the years, but since moving to this area, he held just two jobs. During the 1970’s he was associated with the Coralville Police Department as an officer, during this time he also started a job with River Products Company. He continued with them for over thirty years retiring in 2003. His work, fishing along the river, and striking up a conversation with anyone was the Leonard many knew and loved. He was born into a large family, one that taught you the value of family and friends, something that Leonard lived each day knowing. His family includes his children, Sherry Grosvenor of West Liberty; Mary Jo Hoffman and Kenny Laschansky of Tipton; and Toby and Marla Grosvenor of West Branch; five grandchildren, Skylar Grosvenor, Jessica and Ryan Grosvenor, Jamie and Eric Laschansky; two foster grandchildren, Chrissy and Ariyann; his siblings, Clifford and Connie Grosvenor of San Bernardino, CA; Virginia and James Rysdam of Bloomfield; Pauline Osborne of Burlington; Ruth Enlow of Keota; Barbara and Sherwin Stellinga of Sioux Falls, SD; Kathy McKinney of Burlington, Rhonda and Larry Richmond of Burlington; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Grosvenor of Coralville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, Richard; two brothers, Paul and John; 1 sister, Marcia Selck; and his nieces, Teresa Richmond.
