Bonnie Rae Joyce (Smith) Buser, was born August 27, 1934, in Washington, IA; daughter of Glen Smith and Josephine Janney. Just days out of high school, on May 23, 1953, Bonnie Rae married Robert Buser in West Liberty, IA. A short time later, they began their life long career in farming. They farmed three other farms before spending the last 48 years just East of Nichols, where Bonnie Rae and Robert would raise their nine children, and make a living farming their land. Bonnie Rae was very resourceful and when ever food or other goods could be grown or raised on the farm, they were. She also spent 20 years working as a house keeper at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. She was an avid gardener, farmer and loved to cook big meals for her family. She loved life on the farm and time spent on her Allis Chalmers tractor. Bonnie Rae never lost sight of what was important, she would stop at nothing to provide for her children, and later in life; her grand children. She was a proud and devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Her family includes her husband, Robert; daughters, Robin (Dan) Miles of Kirkland, WA., Susan (Wayne) Morgan of Lone Tree, Mary Jo Blessing (Al Hendricks) of Cedar Rapids and Angie Buser (Bob Davis) of AuSable Forks, NY; sons, Mike (Heidi) Buser of Mt. Vernon, Brian Buser of Nichols, David Buser of Los Angeles, CA., Dan (Marnie) Buser of Lone Tree, and Steve (Angie) Buser of Ames; brother, Forrest Smith of Anamosa; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Keith Smith and grandchildren, Jason Colon and Alexis Ann Buser.
