Obituary of Lois M. Huxford

Lois M. Huxford, 80, former resident of Coralville, died September 5, 2010 at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center in State Center, Iowa. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, with Reverend Sherry Lohman officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent in Lois’s name to Care Initiatives Hospice, 7055 Vista Dr., W. Des Moines, IA, 50266. Online condolences may be sent to Lois’s family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Lois M. Hastings was born September 15, 1929, in Jamestown, N.D.; daughter of James and Flora Hastings. She attended high school in Pingree, N.D. and moved to the Iowa City area shortly after where she met and married Jack Huxford on June 22, 1949. The two built a home in Coralville and resided there for many years. In 2005, Lois moved to The Embers in Marshalltown to be closer to family and within the past year resided at the State Center Nursing Home. Lois was an avid bowler and enjoyed being a member of numerous leagues. She was a past member of the Coralville United Methodist Church and an active member of the Coralville American Legion Auxiliary. Her family includes her daughters; Barbara (Larry) Schrum of Marshalltown, and Linda Krantz of Las Vegas, N.V., grandchildren; Jacob (Elena) Schrum, Elizabeth Schrum and Justin Krantz, sisters; Lola Hoffman and June Beviens. She was preceded in death by her husband; Jack, parents and sister; Lucille Bredahl.
