Obituary of Dewayne Lee Coblentz

DeWayne L. Coblentz, 58 of Riverside died Monday, September 6, 2010, at his home. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin; followed by graveside services at 4pm at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in DeWayne’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web www.gayandciha.com. DeWayne Lee Coblentz was born May 13, 1952, in Iowa City the son of Christ and Geraldine (Douglass) Coblentz. For most of his life he has been in the roofing industry in this area. Many will remember DeWayne from the bands he has been with over the years in this area, most recently “Jack The Rippers”, he loved his music! He was united in marriage to Ruth Powell on May 13, 2009, in Tiffin. His family includes his wife, Ruth; mother, Geraldine Coblentz of Tiffin; sons, Timothy and Lloyd Coblentz both of Tiffin; daughter, Danielle Bogs of Iowa City; step-daughter, Jennifer Totton of N. Aurora, IL; 9 grandchildren, siblings, Arlene (Buzz) Coblentz of Riverside, Hellen Coblentz of Coralville, Rodney Thompson of Coralville, and Rick Thompson of Tiffin, David Thompson of Arizona, Katie Miller of Central City, IA, Everett Coblentz of Iowa City, Dorothy Veseley of Iowa City, Shirley Coblentz of Illinois; and 3 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, sisters, Mary Ellen Madden and Esther Coblentz; and brothers, Amos, Ralph, Lloyd and Danny. DeWayne’s family wishes to thank UIHC, (ER, ICU & Palliative Care) and Iowa City Hospice for their loving care of DeWayne and our family, and a special thanks to Kim Hawkins and Joey for their music!
