Obituary of Mildred T. Kelsey

Mildred T. Kelsey, 97, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at her home. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Iowa City with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Online condolences may be sent to Mildred’s family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Mildred was born July 10, 1913; daughter of Daniel C. and Mary T. (Nugent) in Blencoe, Iowa. She graduated from Solon High School and went onto graduate from Creighton University’s College of Nursing, then becoming a registered nurse. She was a nurse in the Army Air Corps and spent many years working in the San Francisco, CA. area. She lived in Sausalito, CA. for sixty years before moving back to Iowa City to live with her two brothers, James and Gene. Mildred especially enjoyed her time spent at the local casino, with her friends. Mildred also got to know several casino employees and considered many of those employees her friends as well. Mildred’s family includes her brother; Gene Kelsey of Davenport as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
