Obituary of Katheren Lynn Hoyt

Her family includes her husband, Andrew; daughters, Tracy Lynn Hoyt of Iowa City, Andrea Leigh and her husband, Dan George of Kelley, Iowa; son, LCpl Michael Paul Hoyt of Okinawa, Japan; two granddaughters, Mikayla and Morgan George; sisters, Edith Eldeen of Mililani, HI, Amelia Eldeen of Miami, FL, and Karen and her husband, Bill Ruth of Tiffin; brothers, Walter Eldeen of Boone, IA; Daniel Eldeen of Ft. Pierce, FL, David and his wife, Kari Eldeen of Arvada, CO; sisters-in-law, Carole Eldeen of Iowa City, and Danelle Eldeen of Tiffin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Elden Eldeen, and grandson, Austin Hoyt. Kathy was born November 24, 1951 in Hoven, SD, the daughter of Edwin and Carol (Crawford) Eldeen. Her family moved to Iowa City where she later graduated from City High School in 1970. She married Andrew P. Hoyt June 20, 1970, in Iowa City. For the past thirty-two years she has been employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was a beloved member of the Iowa City & Coralville communities, active in many cancer fundraising events, and an active supporter of Special Olympics. For those that knew her, you knew a person with a passion for life, her family, friends, collecting Winnie the Pooh memorabilia, and her dog, Pepper. She touched many lives, and for those people she will never be forgotten. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, we all love you. Memorial donations can be made for Kathy’s granddaughter’s education fund.
