Obituary of Lola Christena Strimple

Her family includes a daughter, Carol Jones of Saunemin, IL; sister, Pauline Hursley of Hemet, CA; grandchildren, Christina McCormack, Lisa Eidenmiller, Susan Heidon, and John Lannon; great-grandchildren, Angela Hocker, Amanda Gourley, and David Heidorn; and one great-great-granddaughter, Zoe Hocker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Martha Swinehart, and granddaughter, Laura Lannon. She was born January 1, 1912 in Byers, OK, the daughter of Floyd and Ellen (Rakestraw) Hunt. She graduated from high school in Byers and attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman for a couple of years. She was married to Harrell L. Strimple in May of 1970. Her husband, Professor Strimple from the Department of Geology at the University of Iowa had Christena assist him in his studies around the world as a paleontologist. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
