Obituary of Deb Matthes

Her family includes her parents, Tom and Pat Matthes of Marion, brother and his wife, Darren and Cindy Matthes of Sioux Falls, SD; paternal grandmother, Marie Matthes of Iowa City; and her uncle and aunt, Tom and Paula Wright of Latour, MO. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert B. Matthes, George Wright, and Elmer and Inez Wright Brandt all formerly of Iowa City. Deb was a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, surgitech, and would have made a great nurse! Deborah “Deb” was born May 3, 1969, in Marion, Iowa the daughter of Tom and Pat (Wright) Matthes. She graduated from Regis High School in 1987, and later received her surgical technician degree from Marshalltown Community College in 1995. Deb has worked as an operating room technician at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the past seven years. In December 2002, she completed her schooling to receive an Associate Degree in Nursing from Kirkwood Community College. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Deb’s memory.
