Obituary of Mark Elliot Rooy
His family includes his wife: Janice, son: Elliot, three daughters: Zandria, Rachael and Sabrina all of Solon, his parents Elwin and Carole Rooy of Aurora, Ohio, two brothers: David and wife Tracy Rooy and children Nathan, Aaron and Molly of Hudson, Joel and wife Kathy Rooy and children Erin and Sarah of Denver, Colorado, grandmother Mildred Glosner of Hudson, Ohio, one uncle Gary and wife Ginni of Medina, Ohio, his father and mother in-law Weldon and Cay Brown of Le Claire, Iowa, brother in-law Weldon Chip and wife Kristy Brown and children Carissa, Mikayla and Rebekah of Joliet, Illinois , two sisters in-law: Louise and husband Randy Richardson and children Caleb, Amber, Nathan, Alexis and Josiah of Hudsonville, Michigan: Teresa Krause and children Jennifer and Mike of Davenport, Iowa. His brother Douglas Richard Rooy, grandparents Edward Glosner and Edna and Luther Rooy preceded him in death.
Mark Elliot Rooy was born on August 3, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Elwin and Carole Glosner Rooy. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Iowa, and served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. On September 14, 1990 he married Janice Brown at the Danforth Chapel in Iowa City. Mark worked as a special education teacher with the College Community School District. He was a member of the Parkview Evangelical Church in Iowa City and served as an Awana Leader. Above all else Mark enjoyed spending time with his wife and four children. His family will remember his innovative writing and story telling abilities along with their many road trips and family times.
A memorial fund in Marks name has been established for the benefit of his children.
