Obituary of Thomas Thompson
Thomas P. Thompson, age 49 of Oxford, died Monday, December 8, 2003, at his place of work following an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2003, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Oxford with the Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Thursday at the church, where a parish vigil service will be held at 6pm. A memorial fund has been established in Toms memory. Thomas Paul Thompson was born September 19, 1954 in Iowa City, the son of Wayne White and Edna (Seifert) Thompson. He attended schools in the Clear Creek Community School System, graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1972. Following high school he was employed with several trucking companies in this area, and was presently employed at Plumbers Supply Company in Iowa City. Tom enjoyed life, especially anything to do with NASCAR racing, and Jeff Gordon #24; loved driving his trucks, was a good father to his daughters, taking them shopping, to the movies, and out to eat. Those that knew Tom knew of his organizational skills not only in his work place, but also around the home. He loved his community of Oxford, volunteering on the fire department, a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, and well-known in the community as a well-liked and kind man willing to give anyone a hand. His family includes his daughters, Lindsay Marie and Kayley Nicole; brother, Gary and his wife, Debbie Spratt of Oxford; sisters, Deborah and her husband Dan Rohret of McPherson, KS, and Donna Vavroch of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Steven Thompson.
