Obituary of Duaine Potter

Duaine W. Potter age 32 of Oxford died on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at his home in Oxford. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Oxford United Methodist Church. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the church in Oxford. Family members will be present from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Big Brothers of Johnson County. Online condolences may be sent to his family @www.gayandciha.com. Duaine William Potter was born on June 6, 1971 in Iowa City the son of Carson and Ruby Smith Potter. In 1989 he graduated from Clear Creek High School. For twelve years he served in the Iowa Army National Guard 234th Signal Battalion in Cedar Rapids. On August 26, 1995 he married Jackie Thomas in Iowa City. He was employed at City Carton Company in Iowa City as the Shop Supervisor. Duaine enjoyed hunting, playing video games and stock car racing. He was a Dale Earnhart and Denny Eckrich fan. His family, especially his nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife Jackie of Tiffin, parents, Carson and Ruby Potter of Oxford, one sister, Pam and husband Mark Hora of Oxford, three brothers, Gary and wife Becci Potter of Middle Amana, Russell and wife Jonette Potter of Oxford, Rick Potter of Iowa City and his friend Leslie Alderman. Nephews, Mark Jr., Tim, Bob, Austin, Shawn, Kameron and James. Nieces, Beth, Breanne, Maddi and Amber. His dogs Sabre and Molly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Marie Smith and Noble King and Velda Potter, one Uncle, Harry Smith, two Aunts, Barbara Smith and Virginia Hostetler and one nephew Matthew Potter.
