Obituary of Terry R. Calkins

Terry R. Calkins, age 61, of Iowa City, died on June 6, 2004 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Terry Robert Calkins was born on April 23, 1943 in Iowa City the son of Seth A. and Dorothy C. Bittner Calkins. He graduated from Iowa City, City High School and married Kay Slaymaker on November 23, 1963 in Coralville. Terry owned and operated Calkin Sheet Metal in Iowa City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He was always willing to help others, never accepting anything in return. His family includes his wife, Kay of Iowa City, daughters, Deb Calkins of Iowa City and Kelly Calkins of Coralville, brothers, Lawrence and wife, Lucille Calkins of Iowa City, Willis and wife, Carol Calkins of Iowa City, Don and wife, Betty Calkins of Coralville, sisters, Delores Neider of Iowa City and Doris Moeller of Columbia, Missouri, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
