Obituary of Ruby Ann Seydel
Ruby Ann Seydel, age 84 of 748 Dearborn Street, Iowa City died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Lynch of the Church of Nazarene officiating. Burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Rubys memory. Ruby Ann Baines Marple Seydel was born January 18, 1920 in Iowa City the daughter of George and Minnie (Sexton) Baines. She married Glenn Marple in 1939. She later married Earl Seydel on August 19, 1967, in Kahoka, MO. For a number of years she did housekeeping and nanny services for families of this area. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City, a member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 3949, Eagles Lodge, and the Red Hat Ladies. Her family includes seven children, Paul Marple and his wife, Donna of Sharpsburg, IA, Maryann Herman and her husband, Keith of Cannon City, CO, George Marple and his wife, Karen of Iowa City, Jim Marple of Kenai, Alaska, Steven Marple of Columbian Heights, MN, Stanley Marple of Las Vegas, NV, and Dawn Brenneman and her husband, Pat of Iowa City, 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John Baines of Maquoketa, and Amil Baines of Columbus, GA; sisters, Mary Bittinger of Indianola, IA, Pearl Rutledge of Clinton, IA and Ann Godwin of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, son, Richard Dick Marple, 1 granddaughter, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
