Obituary of Frank Beers

Frank Beers, age 58 of 209 6th. Street, Coralville died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from complications of lung cancer. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 6pm Saturday, November 20th. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Following this time there will be a time of refreshments served at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Frank’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for his family through our website @www.gayandciha.com Frank was born May 22, 1946 in Iowa City the son of Leslie “Red” Beers and Johanna “Jo” Nelson Beers. He attended Iowa City schools graduating from City High School in 1964. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Army. For a number of years Frank worked in the computer field away from this area. He returned to this area to be near his mother, Jo Beers in her later years. He enjoyed buying, selling and collecting on e-bay. He also enjoyed playing golf or racquetball with his many loyal friends. His family includes a sister, Beverly Volicer of Westford, MA, brother, Michael Beers of Coralville; nieces, Emily and her husband, Stafano Frascaroli, Zuzka and her husband, Michael Blasi, Marika and her husband, Douglas Scott and Nadya Volicer; and one great-nephew, Dante Blasi. His parents preceded Frank in death Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Frank’s family and his services.
