Condolences
Helen was a great lady and friend to the ministry of Youth for Christ both locally and internationally. She served on the local Hawkeye Area YFC Board when I was serving as the Executive Director in the 80's and early 90's and faithfully supported this ministry to teenagers. Well done good and faithful servant! To the extended family -please accept condolences on behalf of the tribe of Benjamin.
We knew Helen through our friends Mary Daniel and Dee Williamson when we were living in Iowa City. We remember visiting Helen and got to know her and her BIG loveable dog. Our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
Dear lady, Helen Brom. Sweet memories of our many visits, when our triplets came home from the hospital, Helen would come to sit with me, help with entertaining, feeding or whatever was needed for their care. Then, when Ervin had knee replacement surgery twice, she opened her home to me. We would visit until the wee hours of the morning, loved talking about God and His Son, Jesus.
Enjoyed her and so appreciated her Christian witness, a great Christian lady.
Thanks to her for her very special influence, love and prayerful concern for our son Timothy, Shannon and family while they lived in Ia. City.
Helen and I spent a lot of fun times together caring for the triplets after they were born!! I'll never forget that beautiful laugh. What a wonderful caring lady !
Oh Helen, what a Godly woman you were - the earth this side of heaven has lost a treasure. I can hear you singing the hymns already!
I worked with Helen as an OT at Hospital School for many years. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
Surely the phrase "well done, good and faithful servant" applies to Helen Brom. Besides being a true friend and encourager, she faithfully supported many ministries (including the one I work with) which furthered the spreading of the gospil around the world. I will always remember her infectious laugh.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Helen was a true friend who told it like it was and lived the life of a true follower of Jesus. She was a great inspiration to me as I did many projects around her house. Built the carport/garage, the storage shed out back, reshingled her roof and painted the sun room a couple of times. Helen would like to have me take brakes and we would talk about how great God is and what He was doing in her life and others at that time. usually with a cranberry and 7up drink. A prayer warrior and friend you could share about anything with. I will miss her wonderful smile and fun laugh but look forward to seeing her again in heaven with Jesus
During the twelve years I lived and taught in Iowa City (1965-1977), Helen was a constant figure in my life, a true GIANT in presence and faith who was always there for me. She was my neighbor on Grandview Court before purchasing her home on Melrose Court; she was a church friend at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and the First Assembly of God, and after my move to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1977 we kept in touch by mail. In some of the most challenging and stressful moments of my personal life, there was Helen Brom as model and counselor, helping me quietly through the worst times. Thanks be to God for such friends! Well done, good and faithful servant Helen -- Enter into the joy of your LORD!
