Obituary of Darold Feuerbach

Darold A. Feuerbach, age 76 of 19 Somerset Place, Iowa City died Sunday, November 21, 2004, of cancer surrounded by his family in their home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Paul Akin officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Darold Feuerbach memorial fund. Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for the streets around the church, everyone is welcome to park near the church. Online condolences may be sent for Darold’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Darold was born September 5, 1928, in Keystone, Iowa the son of Dallis and Lorna (Klappholz) Feuerbach. He graduated from Keystone High School in 1946. On November 21, 1951, Darold married Janet E. Johnson at the Presbyterian Church in Winfield, Iowa. During the Korean Conflict Darold served in the United States Army. Returning from service Darold and Janet farmed in Keystone until the late 50’s, they moved to Waterloo where Darold was employed with Standard Oil Company in petroleum marketing. With Standard Oil, he and his family lived in Waterloo, Decorah, and Monticello. He later was employed with Farmland Industries in petroleum marketing in Charles City, Iowa. Darold retired in 1991 and for the next nine years he and Janet traveled mostly the southern United States. In November of 2000, they moved to Iowa City to be closer to their family. He loved his family, and enjoyed sports. His family includes his wife, Janet; son and his wife, Kerry and Aleda Feuerbach of Iowa City; daughter and her husband, Karla and Carl Rushek of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Kelli, Nick and Mark Rushek and Jessie, Katie, and Missie Feuerbach; sister, Grace Wiese of Keystone; brother-in-laws, Don Albers and Milford Wardenburg both of Keystone; and many nieces and nephews. Darold was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Albers and Ethel Wardenburg, and his brother-in-law, Keith Wiese.
