Obituary of Vicki Sue Yoder

Vicki Yoder, 59, of 79 Heron Circle, Iowa City, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at her home after a graceful battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Tim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice in Vicki’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Vicki Sue Whitmore was born February 13, 1946, in Clearfield, Iowa the daughter of Lester and Alice (Bruner) Whitmore. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1964, having played on the only team from this school that ever qualified for the Girls State Basketball Tournament.. Vicki came to Iowa City in 1965, and for over 36 years, she was employed by ACT. On November 30, 1991, she married Kenneth E. Yoder. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, she enjoyed quilting, especially baby blankets for all of her grandchildren, being outdoors, tending to her garden and flowers and riding her bicycle. You could see her at the bowling alley, going to auctions, collecting antiques and Disney memorabilia, but the most important part of her life was her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Her family includes her husband, Ken; her children Romy Bolton and her partner Julie and their children, Nick, Allie, and Allison of Iowa City, Lance Bolton and his wife, Kate and their children, Jill, Lindsey, and Avery of Iowa City, and her husband Ken’s children, Ron Yoder and his wife, Marie of Normal, IL and their children, Katelyn, Kyle, and Luke, Susan Day and her husband, David of Goodfield, IL and their children, Jack and Samantha, Kathy deVries and her husband, Tom of Exton, PA and their children, Riley, Quinn, and Cooper, Sandra Godin and her husband, Jeremy of West Chester, PA and their son, Elliot; and Lori Yoder of North Liberty; two brothers, Max Whitmore and his wife, Kathy of North Platte, NE, and Don Whitmore and his wife, Sandra of Conroe, TX; and a sister-in-law, Peg Whitmore of Entiat, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Gary Whitmore. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Vicki’s family and her services.
