Obituary of Grace Bernice Snyder

Grace Bernice “Bernie” Snyder, 86, of Iowa City died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at University Hospitals, Iowa City. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Coralville United Methodist Church, a time of family greeting will be from 5:00 pm until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association. Online condolences may be sent to Bernie’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com Bernie was born September 13, 1918 in Grandview, Iowa to Guy and Mabel (Buster) Hardman. Bernie was a graduate of Grandview High School and had attended AIC in Davenport, Iowa. She married Allen Snyder on May 24, 1942 in Grandview and he preceded her in death October 30, 1988. She and Allen farmed in the Williamsburg and Riverside areas. Bernie worked at Oral B and at the University of Iowa Hospital Schools in the housekeeping department. She was a charter member of the Coralville United Methodist Church and was active in the Iowa Square Dance Association. Bernie’s family includes her sons, Mike and wife, Barb of Baraboo, Wisconsin and Dick and wife, Pat of Orlando, Florida, 2 grandchildren, Jeff Snyder and his wife, Melanie of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Laura and her husband, Mike Henrickson of Burnsville, Minnesota, and one sister, Myrtle Schultz of Grandview, Iowa. Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Birdie’s family and her services.
